    Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer is a term for the group of cancers that affect the digestive system. As a whole, GI cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in the United States each year, after skin cancer.

Gastrointestinal Cancer

Gastrointestinal cancer encompasses a group of cancers affecting the gastrointestinal tract and other organs within the digestive system, including the esophagus, pancreas, stomach, colon, rectum, anus, liver, biliary system, and small intestine. Gastrointestinal cancer begins when the cells lining one of these organs mutate and begin to grow, producing a tumor.
