The mission of the UMPC is to provide comprehensive metabolic characterization of transgenic mice that are developed by academic and non-academic investigators in joint efforts to understand obesity and diabetes and to find its cure. The UMPC provides sophisticated metabolic procedures that are not readily available and are performed under fee-for-service and collaborative structure. As collaboration, the UMPC offers valuable scientific inputs toward study design, quality control, and data interpretation and translation to meet the bench-to-bedside goal of research recommended by the National Institutes of Health. The UMPC also participates in a drug trial study with for-profit organizations in coordinated efforts to identify novel therapeutic targets to treat metabolic diseases. The UMPC is dedicated to studying valuable transgenic animal models to benefit human health.
