MD/PhD Program Revisit/Open House Travel & Accommodations Information
Arrival Dates
Wednesday, February 27th in the afternoon or evening
Thursday, February 28th in the morning for a 9am start.
The MD/PhD Program revisit events will begin on Thursday morning. The research retreat events begin on Friday, March 1st at 10am, following breakfast at The Beechwood Hotel with program leadership.
Travel
Long distance travel costs will be reimbursed up to a reasonable amount for domestic travel in the contiguous United States. You will not be reimbursed for food while enroute, travel between your home and your local airport or bus/train station, nor for checked bags. We prefer that you make your airline reservations with our travel agent (see below). That way, you will not have to pay and be reimbursed. Rather, the charge will go directly to our credit card.

Flight arrangements made with the Travle Collaborative will be forwarded to Knight Airport Shuttle for transportation to the Marriot Residence Inn for both your arrival and departure.
If you are traveling by private vehicle, bus or Commuter Rail, please make your own arrangements to take a taxi to and from the Residence Inn, 503 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA. The ride from Logan Airport, Green Airport or the Amtrak stations in Providence or Boston to Worcester is approximately one hour without traffic. Plan accordingly if you are traveling around rush hour.
Transportation to and from the hotel for events, meetings and the retreat will be provided by Knight’s Shuttles and those arrangements will be made by UMass.
If you drive directly to the school on Thursday morning, we will provide you with a parking voucher for the South Road Visitors garage. We recommend you drive to the hotel, park and catch the shuttle with the other visitors.
Accommodations
If you are staying at the hotel, please arrive at the Marriott Residence Inn located at 503 Plantation Street, Worcester. The hotel is located a short distance from the Medical School. At check-in, you will need to provide a credit card for incidental charges. Check in time is 3:00 pm and check-out is noon; if you need early check-in please let us know and we will make arrangements with the hotel. On check-out day you will need to leave your bags with the hotel concierge until it is time for you to leave; you will be driven back to the hotel to pick up your luggage and meet arranged transportation.
