MassAHEC Rural and Urban Health Scholars Program
MassAHEC Rural and Urban Health Scholars Program
The T.H. Chan School of Medicine offers an optional, structured program for students interested in serving the underserved. A notation is made on the transcripts and in the Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE) for students who successfully complete all requirements.
The MassAHEC Network is a statewide program hosted by the Department of Family Medicine & Community Health. The MassAHEC Rural and Urban Health Scholars longitudinal optional enrichment elective is an interprofessional learning experience for medical and advanced practice nursing students who want opportunities to learn about and work with diverse patient populations, pursue individual passions, and explore what it means to practice in underserved urban and rural and small-town communities. Academic, experiential and social events are offered a mix of weekdays, weeknights and weekends to accommodate students’ academic schedules; some activities can be completed remotely. An application is required.
