Molecular, Cell and Cancer Biology - Open Positions

The Department of Molecular, Cell and Cancer Biology (MCCB) at UMass Chan Medical School is a vibrant community of scholars and staff whose commitments to research, education and service make a vital contribution to our institution.

Research programs in MCCB encompass a wide range of areas including: cell proliferation, differentiation and death; regulation of gene expression; genome editing; developmental biology; systems biology; metabolism; infectious diseases; and aging. In addition, MCCB is the nexus of cancer research at our institution. Our faculty study multiple aspects of cancer biology ranging from the study of basic cancer molecular and cell biology to the development of cell-based and animal models for studying cancer initiation, progression and metastasis, to the discovery of novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of cancer. Our multi-disciplinary research program is facilitated by an in-house Bioinformatics Core that provides cutting-edge bioinformatics and biostatistics support to MCCB researchers. Our faculty make significant contributions through the publication of high-quality, high-impact research, and many are considered leaders in their respective fields. We are a highly collaborative group with successful partnerships within the department, with other departments at UMMS, and with other labs nationwide.

The diverse scientific environment also makes MCCB a strong training ground for postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, and we provide opportunities for training in cancer biology as well as fundamental genetics and cell biology. A strong component of our training program is our departmental seminar series, which includes a weekly internal seminar series for trainees (offering trainees the opportunity to present their research to other trainees and faculty) and a monthly external seminar series that attracts world-class researchers.
