Residency Application Requirements

To Apply:

The following documentation should be submitted through ERAS.

1. Common application form and personal statement
2. Transcripts
3.  MSPE
4. Three letters of recommendation from faculty or clinicians, at least one of which should be from a clinician with whom a student worked during their anesthesia rotation.
5. All USMLE and/or COMLEX score reports available must be uploaded to the ERAS application before the closure of rank match list. We will accept applications from DOs who have only taken the COMLEX. However, as a DO, if you choose to take a USMLE exam, you must provide those score reports as well. 
6. ECFMG Status Report if applicable

Please note:

- All breaks or extensions in medical education must be explained
- The institution only accepts US Citizens, Permanent Residents, H1-B Visas and J-1 Visas
- Candidates' medical school graduation dates should be less than 10 years ago 
- IMG candidates that have been out of medical school a significant amount of time must have completed an anesthesiology residency in their home country
- Fluency in both spoken and written English is required
- For additional eligibility requirements, please visit the Office of Graduate Medical Education website
- Virtual interview season runs from mid-October through mid-January

Applicants must pass USMLE/COMLEX Step 2 CS and CK before being placed on Match Rank Order List.

Please note that we do not offer observerships or externships.

Requests for 4th year student elective rotations are submitted via UMass Chan Medical School and the VLSO system.
