Masahiro Ohara
Masa graduated from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), Tokyo, Japan in 2014 with a medical degree. Following medical school, he completed his internship and his residence in neurology at TMDU Hospital. As a neurologist, Masa conducted several clinical studies, especially studying the similarities between progressive supranuclear palsy and normal pressure hydrocephalus. Afterwards, Masa completed his research for a PhD in Dr Yokota’s Lab at TMDU in 2022. During his PhD, Masa explored the effect of cationic oligopeptides on toxicities of DNA/RNA heteroduplex oligonucleotides and developing the drug delivery system to the central nervous system. In 2023, Masa joined the Watts Lab to develop oligonucleotide therapeutics for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Outside of the lab, he enjoys playing tennis.
