The Professional Women’s Committee has received the Dress for Success Worcester Beyond the Suit Award in recognition of its commitment to empowering women in the greater Worcester community to achieve economic success.

“We are incredibly grateful to have received recognition. The ladies of our committee have exemplified leadership, creativity, cooperation and hard work in service of Dress for Success Worcester. It is a testament to the wonderful relationship we have built with the organization,” said Justine Cameron, project coordinator for student affairs & student life and co-chair of UMMS PWC with Patricia Levenson, administrative coordinator at the Lamar Soutter Library.

Dress for Success is an international organization that helps women achieve economic independence by providing them with career development tools, a support network and professional attire.

Beth Butler, program director for Dress for Success Worcester, said the committee is deserving of the award for its years of support of local women in search of employment. Cameron said that the committee “shares the values of Dress for Success in helping women to network and achieve their goals.”

The UMMS Professional Women’s Committee, a subcommittee of the Committee on Equal Opportunity and Diversity, held the first event to benefit Dress for Success Worcester in 2013. Since that time, more than $12,000 has been raised from the annual spring boutique clothing sale and about $28,000 in clothing has been donated to the Dress for Success Worcester chapter.
