Hematopathology Fellowship

Fellowship Description

The Department of Pathology at the UMass Chan Medical School offers a one-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship program in hematopathology with its clinical partner, UMass Memorial Health Care. The Department of Pathology provides hematopathology consultation services to Central Massachusetts. UMass Memorial Health Care is the only site for the stem cell transplant program in Central Massachusetts. Approximately 1,600 bone marrows, 300 lymph node specimens and 2,500 diagnostic flow cytometry cases are examined annually. The program is designed to provide the trainee a broad exposure to all aspects of diagnostic hematopathology, including bone marrow and lymph node pathology, peripheral blood and body fluid examination, general hematology and coagulation, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, molecular diagnostics and cytogenetics. Fellows are expected to participate in the abundant research opportunities that are available

Requirements: Candidates should possess MD degree and be board certified/eligible in anatomic pathology (AP), clinical pathology (CP), or anatomic pathology and clinical pathology (AP/CP) and must have passed Step 3 of the USMLE.
