Electives

Electives.jpg

Perhaps more so with GI than other specialties, the management of complicated patients requires a multidisciplinary approach. Complex disease states and the availability of evolving procedure-based therapies require coordinating care with other divisions. Luckily, the presence of these divisions at UMass Memorial Medical Center means that fellows can work with other clinicians to learn how these non-GI services affect the care of shared patients. Electives - some required - are available with the divisions of Colorectal Surgery, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, GI Pathology, Medical/Surgical/Radiation Oncology, and Nutrition and Dietary Services. We anticipate being able to provide more organized experiences for fellows with other divisions such as Minimally Invasive Surgery and Pediatric Gastroenterology (Transitional Care for IBD), based on interest from fellows and faculty.
