Welcome to UMass Chan Preventive Medicine!
Welcome to the UMass Chan Medical School Preventive Medicine Residency Program!
Since 1977, our program has proudly trained physicians in preventive medicine and public health, shaping leaders who advance health equity and strengthen communities.
Our residency resides within the Department of Family Medicine & Community Health, alongside the Worcester Campus MPH Program, offering a robust environment for interdisciplinary learning and collaboration. As a fully ACGME-accredited two-year training program, we provide the resources, mentorship, and experiences necessary to develop your expertise in population health, clinical prevention, and policy-driven change.
The goal of our training program is to prepare graduates with the requisite knowledge, skills, and experience to assume leadership roles in the field of preventive medicine and public health. Our program is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where residents learn to identify and confront disparities in healthcare, champion social justice, and develop strategies that ensure equitable access to quality care for all.
If you are applying to our residency, please see our admission requirements. Review our Curriculum details.
We welcome applicants from both US and international medical schools each year and we are excited we have both overseas graduates and domestic graduates in our current residency class!
Come share our passion for Preventive Medicine at UMass!
