Community fundraising events raise more than $322,000

Area fundraisers and donors support UMass Chan Medical School

Twenty-six fundraising events were organized by members of the Worcester and Central Massachusetts communities in FY20 to support various programs at UMass Chan Medical School. The funds raised by these events—which included golf tournaments; marathons and fun-walks; flower sales and raffles; car races and karaoke—totaled more than $322,000. Community-driven fundraising events like these play a critical role in driving pioneering education, research and patient care, and heightening community awareness of the need for clinical and scientific medical advances.

Areas that benefited from these community-based efforts included: research for ALS, bone marrow, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, cancer, diabetes, leukemia, neurofibromatosis, pancreatic cancer and vitiligo, as well as for education trips for UMMS students.
