Tom grew up in the United Kingdom and earned his bachelor’s degree in Medical Science from Swansea University. He then completed his PhD at the same institution under the supervision of Professor Martin Sheldon (2017–2021), investigating the complex interplay between cholesterol, energy metabolism, and cellular defenses against bacterial toxins. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tom worked at the UK Health and Security Agency (2020–2021), helping to establish a key diagnostic testing laboratory. He later joined the Lead Development team at Ochre Bio (2022–2024), where he focused on developing RNA therapeutics to address critical liver health challenges. In the summer of 2024, Tom joined the Alterman and Khvorova labs as a postdoctoral associate, where his research now focuses on developing effective strategies for extrahepatic siRNA delivery to unlock new therapeutic possibilities.
