The Alterman Lab is focused on expanding the overall applicability of siRNA technology to extrahepatic tissues. While a lofty goal, our lab has successfully developed novel siRNA chemical architectures that support delivery throughout the body. We are currently working on projects targeting skin, heart, muscle, bone, the joint, the eye, and the immune system, as well as designing and screening hundreds of hyper-functional sequences for specific genetic targets. We have expertise across disciplines including oligonucleotide chemistry and synthesis, chemical biology, and in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo pharmacology. Going forward, we are passionate about understanding the structure-activity relationship, pharmacology, and applications of oligonucleotide therapeutics and using our siRNA chemical toolbox in collaboration with academia and industry to support quick and targeted therapeutic solutions to a wide array of genetic diseases.
