Clinical Care
The Hospital Medicine Division provides cost effective high quality care across the Umass Memorial Health Care system. Hospital Medicine services were first established on the University Campus in 1996. Since that time, we have grown into a Division that includes over 60 physician and affiliate practitioners caring for patients at the University Campus and Memorial Campus of the UmassMemorial Medical Center and Marlborough Hospital.
University Campus at UMass Memorial Medical Center
The University Campus of UMMMC is a tertiary care academic medical center and the major teaching hospital for UMass Chan Medical School. The Hospital Medicine Division is responsible for nearly half of all the medical acute care admissions at this site. We supervise and teach interns, residents, medical students and nurse practitioner students with a focus on providing compassionate evidence based medical care. We also provide Observation Unit services, Surgical Co-Management services, and direct a Transitional Care Team in the Emergency Department.
Memorial Campus at UMass Memorial Medical Center
The Memorial Campus of UMMMC is located approximately one mile west of the University Campus. We serve the majority of the acute care medical patients admitted at this campus through a combination of teaching and non-teaching services. The Division also oversees a 10 bed Observation Unit focused on providing cost effective streamlined care. Our affiliate practitioner service also supports this campus through rapid response service, urology cross coverage and neurosurgery cross coverage.
Marlborough Hospital
Marlborough Hospital is an affiliated community hospital located 20 minutes east of UMMMC. Hospital Medicine provides acute care medical services for nearly all of the patients at Marlborough Hospital. We also provide teaching for 3rd and 4th year students who choose a community hospital experience. Courtesy admitting services to the ICU are provided at the request of the Intensive Care Team. Medical Consult services are also offered.
