Visiting Resident Electives

Residents and fellows who are enrolled in ACGME-accredited programs under the sponsorship of other teaching hospitals or medical schools may be eligible to participate in elective training at UMass Memorial Medical Center under the supervision of UMMS faculty. Residents must meet requirements for participation in an elective experience including:

♦ Limited or Full Massachusetts Medical License (the resident must apply to the Board of Registration in Medicine for a license if he/she does not have one a full or limited Massachusetts medical license. He/she will need to cover the cost of $100 for a limited license or $600 for a full license.  The limited license is handled through the GME office.

♦ Documentation of Malpractice Insurance Coverage

♦ Documentation of UMMS Employee Health Clearance

♦ Documented Letter of Approval of Current Program Director

The Visiting Resident must first contact the program they are interested in to make sure they have a spot available for that particular rotation month.

Once approved from the UMass program, you must contact the GME office for all necessary paperwork and final approval.
