Associate Professor or Professor Faculty Position
Meyers Primary Care Institute
University of Massachusetts Medical School
The Meyers Primary Care Institute is seeking outstanding candidates for an Associate Professor or Professor-level faculty position within the University of Massachusetts Medical School. The Meyers Primary Care Institute is a member of the HMO Research Network and is uniquely positioned as a joint endeavor of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Fallon Community Health Plan, and Reliant Medical Group. The Institute was founded with a mission to improve the health and healthcare of populations through innovative research and educational endeavors. Direct linkages with major clinical systems enable the Institute’s investigators to track treatment and outcomes in defined populations, assess the effectiveness of changes in the health care system, and develop and test innovations in care delivery. Our faculty members actively participate in multi-site research endeavors associated with the HMO Research Network, such as the NCI-funded Cancer Research Network, the NHLBI-funded Cardiovascular Research Network, and the Food and Drug Administration’s Mini-Sentinel. Locally, population health science research is growing quickly within the University of Massachusetts Medical School and cross-department collaborations are common; particularly strong linkages exist between the Institute’s faculty and the Departments of Medicine, Pediatrics, Family and Community Medicine, and Quantitative Health Sciences.
Candidates should have an MD with an MPH, or a doctoral degree in public health, epidemiology, health services research, or related field. Candidates must qualify for the rank of Associate or Professor in accordance with University of Massachusetts Medical School criteria. Successful candidates will have a well-developed track record of scientific publications and a currently active research program with a history of NIH, AHRQ, PCORI, or other peer-reviewed funding. Faculty members are expected to develop and lead a portfolio of research focused on aspects of population health and/or health care delivery. This may include substantive areas such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, chronic illness, children’s health, women’s health, and aging or special areas of interest such as health communications and patient safety. Our research structure requires that members of our investigator team be flexible and interested in working both independently and as part of collaborative, interdisciplinary teams. Enjoyment of working productively and collaboratively in a group setting is critical. Candidates should also have demonstrated success in mentoring pre- and post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty, and/or graduate level teaching experience.
