Founded in Worcester in 1962, the UMass Chan Medical School (UMass Chan) is the only public health science center in the state, and is the “state’s medical school”. Partnered with UMass Memorial Health Care to provide excellent and affordable medical education and to increase the number of doctors serving in underserved areas of the state, UMass Chan has been repeatedly nationally recognized as one of the top institutions for training primary care doctors in the United States. The institution is also home to many advancements in medicine and biotechnology such as vitiligo, HIV, diabetes, and infectious diseases.

The Vitiligo Specialty Clinic at UMass Chan is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with vitiligo. Dr. Harris sees patients in this clinic weekly (see location/schedule and directions for travel), and has been treating vitiligo patients for over 8 years.

Common treatments for vitiligo can be found here. Dr. Harris has participated as a member, board member, and/or co-founder of a number of clinical and research societies focused on vitiligo, including developing a new naming system for vitiligo, as well as determining the best direction and approach to future vitiligo research. He has given the “Vitiligo” lecture at the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting (~20,000 participants) for the past two years, as well as other national and international lectures on the diagnosis, treatment, and causes of vitiligo.
