Train the Trainer in Tobacco Treatment (T4)

Introduction

The Train the Trainer in Tobacco Treatment (T4) program is an intensive training. The training is for qualified participants who wish to become Certified UMass Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Trainers. Certified UMass TTS Trainers will be eligible to coordinate and deliver UMass Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training at sites they choose. Applicants must be affiliated with a non-profit agency wishing to train local health care providers or social service employees.

Applicants should possess a commitment to tobacco dependence treatment. They must have access to the organizational resources necessary to conduct multi-day trainings. They must also agree to deliver the training program as a not-for-profit venture. And in a manner consistent with the University of Massachusetts’ quality standards. Terms, conditions and fees related to the delivery of each TTS Core Training will be included in the application packet.

Education and Training Requirements

Candidates with a Bachelor Degree or higher in a health or educational field are preferred.  Applicants with an Associate Degree plus licensure/certification in a health related profession will also be considered. Such health professions include; nursing, chemical dependence treatment, respiratory care, and dental health. Experience in delivering professional training is preferred.

Candidates must have completed either of the following:

  • The UMass training program:  Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Core Training and a passing grades of at least 75% are required.
  • Any other ATTUD-accredited Tobacco Treatment Specialist training program. Proof of completion must be sent with your application. Please contact us if you have questions about whether the program you attended will be accepted.

Timeline

Training date: To be determined.

  • The training will be held virtually via Zoom on Monday June 10th and Wednesday June 12th, 2024.
  • Participants must attend the entire day of training (Both days from 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm Eastern Standard Time - EDT)

Application deadline: May 27, 2024. We reserve the right to close applications if we reach capacity before then.

  • Completed applications must be received by this date. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
  • DO NOT send payment with the application.

Acceptance notification: 2 weeks after application is submitted

  • Applicants will be notified of acceptance/rejection by e-mail on or before this date.

Payment deadline:  To be determined

  • Confirmation of attendance and arrangements for payment must be made by this date. This will secure a spot in the training.
