Predictors of Outcomes in MBSR Participants from Teacher Factors (PrOMPT-F)

We are seeking participants for a research study about the benefits that people may get from Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and how teacher factors affect participant outcomes.  The study is being led by Fredrick Hecht, MD from the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine and by Judson Brewer, MD, PhD from the University of Massachusetts Center for Mindfulness (CFM).  It is being paid for by a grant from the National Institutes of Health: National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH).

Participants must be:

  • enrolled in select MBSR courses.
  • at least 18 years old.

Participants will:

  • View a video about the study to confirm that you are eligible and interested to participate.
  • Attend MBSR as already planned.
  • Complete online questionnaires about your health and mood three times: before MBSR begins, soon after your MBSR ends, and two months later.  It will take about 20 minutes to complete the questionnaires. During the 8-week MBSR class, you will be asked to provide information about class attendance and home practice.
  • Be paid $75 for your time and effort.

Participation in this study is voluntary. You are free to choose not to participate in the study and still take the MBSR course as already planned.

If you have questions about the study, please call Dr. Patty Moran at 415.353.9745.
