Paralysis with the following characteristics: 1) muscles are soft and lax. 2) muscles provide no resistance at all to passive stretching. 3) reflexes cannot be elicited (but if the paralysis is incomplete, any reflexes present will be normal e.g. plantar response will be plantar flexion.). 4) muscles show abnormal electrical activity. Later they undergo denervation atrophy.
