About Albert Sherman

As the long-time Vice Chancellor for University Relations, Mr. Sherman was responsible for federal and state relations for UMMS, including government liaison. Before coming to UMMS in 1989, Mr. Sherman was associate vice president for development at Boston University, where he planned and executed special projects for the university president. Previously, he served as director of special services for the Medical Center of Boston University.

Mr. Sherman earned his bachelor’s degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences in 1960. He is a member of the Massachusetts Public Health Council. Mr. Sherman is also a member on boards of diverse local, national and international organizations including the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston, Anti-Defamation League, Massachusetts Society for Medical Research, Greater Boston Association for Retarded Citizens, New England-Israel Chamber of Commerce, executive committee of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston and the Fire Safety Council of Greater Boston, where he recently completed his second term as president.

Mr. Sherman retired from UMMS in 2009.
