Annual Events

Our country’s President said it best in his speech to the National Academy of Sciences when he encouraged educators to “Think about new and creative ways to engage young people in science and engineering, like science festivals, robotics competitions, and fairs that encourage young people to create, build and invent – to be makers of things.”

Exposing students to professionals, career choices, and pathways to college at ages as early as middle school is the most effective way to prepare them for high school, college, and the world of exciting careers that lies ahead of them. For students to be genuinely interested and excited about their current classes, it is important for them to understand how the skills they develop now can be utilized in the future.

Here at the Regional Science Resource Center, our staff and partners come together to form the connection between students, teachers, professionals, and school districts. Each year, events are held in the interest of reaching out to schools and students who may not have access to the resources vital to attaining this goal. Not only are the events beneficial to students, but for teachers as well. They are often encouraged to broaden their lesson plans to incorporate fresh ways to entice their students to begin to think about the future. The annual events listed below give students and administrators alike the chance to converse with professionals in science, technology, math and engineering fields, and allow for hands-on exposure to numerous occupations.
