Boys & Girls Club Summer Camp
Members of the Radiology Department collected $300 for The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester summer camp program.
Many of our kids' families are unable to afford the $75 per week, so they receive scholarships for the entire summer at no cost. In addition, the actual cost for the Club provides for one week of summer programming is $150 per kid.
Liz Hamilton, the Executive Director states, "We fundraise for our summer program’s costs (not covered by camp fees paid by the families) by soliciting donations from foundations, individuals and businesses. For example, this year we are receiving $8,000.00 through the UMass Memorial Health Care’s Summer Strong program.
The Club's eight-week summer program costs our organization $280,000 (Each week we spend $35,000 to provide 230 kids the summer program at our Harrington site).
The Radiology Department sponsored a student intern from the Boys and Girls Club this summer. The Department plans to continue to support educational programs in the future.
