Abigail Helm, Ph.D.

Dr. Helm is a Program Director in the Smelson Lab at the UMass Chan Medical School Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Helm earned her doctorate in psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and she joined the lab in October 2020. As a part of the lab, Dr. Helm manages state and VA-based projects, serves as a data analyst, and supports grant submissions and publications. Her research interests include developmental psychopathology, cognitive neuroscience, and e-learning.

Meet the Center of Excellence in Addiction Staff

A number of staff support the Center of Excellence in Addiction, namely through implementation and evaluation of the Maintaining Independence and Sobriety through Systems Integration, Outreach and Networking (MISSION) Model. MISSION was developed specifically to meet the unique needs of individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders (CODs), with versions available for homeless individuals, criminal justice-involved individuals, and military veterans.
