7th Annual Central Massachusetts Regional Brain Bee

Brain Bee Logo

64 registered students from 14 area schools competed in the 7th Annual Central Massachusetts Brain Bee, held on February 2, 2013, at the UMass Chan Medical School Campus.

All participants completed the written test consisting of (25) multiple choice questions, neuro-anatomy identification of parts of a human brain model and patient diagnosis of neurological conditions from symptoms presented by patient actors.

Due to tied scores from the written test, there were twelve top competitors that competed in a round robin oral questioning period. After nine rounds of questions, Elliot Davis, a 16 year old junior at Tantasqua Regional High School, from Sturbridge, Massachusetts was crowned the winner by correctly answering the final question. Elliot was presented with the Andrew M. Sheridan "Young Neuroscientist Award" and will represent Massachusetts in the National Brain Bee in Baltimore in early March.
