Dr. Kate Lapane joins the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences and will direct the CPHR Doctoral Program

QHS is pleased to announce that Kate Lapane, Ph.D., will be joining us as Professor in the Division of Epidemiology of Chronic Diseases and Vulnerable Populations on Monday, July 2nd. Kate will be Associate Dean in the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Director of the Doctoral Program in Clinical and Population Health Research (CPHR). 

Kate comes to us from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) where she was Professor and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health and the Charles W. and Evelyn F. Thomas Professor in Epidemiology; as well as the Director of the Education Function of the VCU Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA). In the latter capacity, she was the founding director of the doctoral program in Clinical and Translational Science and designed and launched three Master's in Public Health tracks. Kate has published extensively on pharmacoepidemiology and building and using creative data sources to estimate health risks. Her methodological work has focused on the robustness of techniques and appropriate application of techniques often used in non-experimental comparative effectiveness research.
