Curriculum Committees
The Educational Policy Committee (EPC) is a primary governing body of the School of Medicine and determines policy for undergraduate medical school education, reporting to the Dean of the School of Medicine. Chair: Erin McMaster, MD -- Pediatrics, Co-Chair: Patricia Seymour, MD -- Family Medicine, and Administrator: Victoria Cohen.
Foundations of Medicine Committees (FOM1) and (FOM2) focus on policies, guidelines, and processes that impact the foundational (pre-clerkship) education of medical students. Together, they bring forward to the Educational Policy Committee (EPC) issues and recommendations concerning institutional policies relevant to their areas of responsibility. FOM1 Chair: Eustathia Lela Giannaris, Ph.D. -- Radiology, FOM1 Co-Chair Sue Gagliardi, PhD – Radiology/Nuclear Medicine, and FOM 1 Administrator: Karen Morrissey. FOM2 Chair: Tom Smith, MD -- Pathology, FOM2 Co-Chair: Dina Kandil, MD -- Pathology and FOM2 administrator: Jean Welker.
Core Clinical Experiences (CCE) and Clerkship Director (CDC) committees focus on the policies, guidelines, and process that impact the clinical experiences of curriculum year 3. CCE Co-Chairs -- Nancy Skehan, MD -- Internal Medicine, Peter Sell, MD -- Pediatrics and Administrator: Sonia Nunes, CDC Chair - shared clerkship directors leadership, Co-Chair: Gail March Cohen, PhD -- OUME, and Administrator: Sonia Nunes.
Advanced Studies Curriculum Committee (ASCC) focuses on policies and processes that impact the advanced clinical education of medical students and influence high level policy decisions. Chair: Christine MacGinnis --Lincoln St I/M-Hawthorne, Co-Chair: Judith Savageau, MPH -- Family Medicine and Community Health, and Administrator: Pawel Chojnowski.
Elective Curriculum Committee (ECC) is responsible for reviewing and setting the policies of internal and external electives and reviewing and approving new electives. Chair: Susan Hogan, MD -- Family Medicine and Administrator: Karen Morrissey.
Longitudinal Themes Curriculum Committee (LTCC) is charged by the EPC with oversight and management of longitudinal threads, themes and transitions across the entire medical school experience including pharmacology, nutrition, professional development, wellness, diversity and anti-racism curricula, as well as optional/learner-specific longitudinal experiences including combined degree programs, the pathways program, the 3-year MD program as they relate to educational policy and curriculum. Additionally, they are charged with reviewing, and responding to student feedback and needs assessments, developing, approving, and instituting processes and relevant policies that pertain to longitudinal content in alignment with institutional policies and procedures.
