One New Knee, 53 Mountains

ontopmountain
After real estate agent John Burrows, 67, reached the 4,020-foot summit of Mt. Whiteface in New Hampshire last week, he emailed David Ayers, MD, chair of orthopedics and physical rehabilitation, to thank him for his total knee replacement. “Without that procedure … this summit never would have been attainable. This was one tough mountain!” wrote Burrows, who needed surgery after experiencing increasing knee pain for several years. Burrows had his right knee replaced last spring in order to maintain his active lifestyle. Thanks to his new knee, soon he’ll climb five more of the 53, 4,000-foot mountains in Vermont and New Hampshire known among mountaineers as "The List."
