LISTEN: Chancellor Collins launches new season of Voices of UMassMed podcast

Chancellor Michael F. Collins is kicking off Season 2 of the Voices of UMassMed podcast, just as the School of Medicine Class of 2023 begins its journey through medical school.

In the podcast. Chancellor Collins offers advice for his “future colleagues,” and insight into the growth in class size for the School of Medicine. The new class has 162 students, with 115 from Massachusetts and 47 from out of state.

“Our student body now is much more reflective of the nation, and is challenging us in all wonderful ways,” he said. “It helps us with diversity of thought, diversity of background.”

Collins highlights the institution’s partnership with Baystate Health and discusses how the Population-based Urban and Rural Community Health (PURCH) track addresses the physician shortage.
