In a commentary published in the Chronicle of Higher Education, Sherry Pagoto, PhD, professor of medicine, encourages fellow scientists to promote their achievements at the April 22 March for Science.

Dr. Pagoto, a nationally recognized expert in weight loss, nutrition, digital health and skin cancer prevention and president-elect of the Society of Behavioral Medicine, writes about the importance of the march, describing it as an “unprecedented gathering of scientists who study anything from cells to societies, and an opportunity for them to promote what they have in common: a passion for observation and discovery.”

Pagoto encourages her peers to talk about their science, be thoughtful in their messaging and inform the public about how tax dollars are spent on critical research.

“The March for Science is the long-needed push for the American scientific establishment to take the lead in shaping the public conversation about our impact,” Pagoto wrote.
