Brian L. Girard joined UMass Medical School as purchasing director on Monday, June 9, Nancy E. Vasil, associate vice chancellor for administration and finance, has announced.
“Brian has extensive experience with strategic sourcing, contracting, supply chain management and procurement systems,” Vasil said. “His work has included managing $1.3 billion in purchasing and supplier relationships in an environment where continuous process improvement was a necessity. Brian looks forward to applying these skills and talents in a new field of endeavor. Please join me in welcoming him to UMass Medical School.”
Most recently, Girard was senior director of strategic sourcing at National DCP LLC, the exclusive supply chain partner for Dunkin’ Brands, where he worked for the last 17 years in progressively responsible purchasing roles. Prior to that, he was a production and distribution supervisor at West Lynn Creamery in Lynn, Mass.
Girard received his bachelor’s degree from Westfield State College.
