PRogram In Support of Moms (PRISM) Research Study

October 2015 to September 2021. Funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention grant: U01DP006093. The CDC awarded this grant to refine, evaluate, and disseminate a sustainable program to integrate mental health care into Ob/Gyn outpatient settings. The program’s goal was to improve perinatal individuals’ mental health treatment rates and outcomes. Investigators compared an enhanced perinatal mental health intervention, PRISM (formerly the Rapid Access to Perinatal Psychiatric Care in Depression Program), with the existing MCPAP for Moms program.

Rapid Access to Perinatal Psychiatric Care in Depression (RAPPID) Study

Rapid Access to Perinatal Psychiatric Care in Depression (RAPPID) Pilot Study [PDF]  July 2014 to October 2015. Funded by UMass Center for Clinical and Translational Science grant: NIH 1 KL2 TR001455-01. This pilot study for PRISM suggested that while both MCPAP for Moms and PRISM improve maternal perinatal depression symptoms, there is a greater decrease in depression severity with the additional intervention components included in PRISM.

MCPAP for Moms evaluation

MCPAP for Moms is a state-funded program in Massachusetts that aims to promote maternal and child health by building the capacity of providers serving pregnant and postpartum women and their children up to one year after delivery to effectively prevent, identify, and manage depression. We work to evaluate the effectiveness of the MCPAP for Moms and to provide insight into best practices for conducting the program using an evidence-based approach.
