BlackBoard Learn Video - Using the Text Editor

Using the Text Editor

Video Transcript

Blackboard’s text editor is required for creating objects in Blackboard. The text editor is also used when editing objects and grading students. For the purpose of this demonstration, we’ll show the text editor within the context of creating an item. Please note that the text editor looks the same regardless of where it appears in Blackboard. When you first see the text editor you’ll notice that there is a bar at the top of the text entry field. This bar allows you to change the appearance of any text that you place in the field. You can make text bold, italic, or underlined. You can also change the font, size, and color of text. You can also make a bulleted or numbered list, check your spelling within the text field, and even create links within the text field. These buttons are the most commonly used options for changing the appearance of text within an object. However, the text editor allows you to do more. When you click the rightmost button on the bar above the text entry field, you’ll see the bar expand from one row to three. This allows you to perform many more functions. The most useful of these functions is the ability to change the alignment of text, insert a file, and add an image.
