iCELS Adds Carlin Operating Room to Its Simulation Facilities

iCELS-Carlin-operating-room-unveilingWORCESTER, Massachusetts, April 12, 2018 - iCELS hosted the dedication of the brand new Carlin Operating Room and unveiling of a plaque to commemorate the support and generosity of the late iCELS Ambassador Roberta Carlin.

Carlin was a long-time trustee of the Paul C. and Gladys W. Richards Foundation with fellow trustee, Linda Arman. The Richards Foundation has been a faithful supporter of iCELS through the years.

With this generous support, the simulation center now has an operating room that features an overhead boom with surgical light and monitor. The monitor is integrated with an existing wall mounted monitor so that ancillary devices such as patient vitals, laparoscopy, endoscopy or fluoroscopy images can be displayed on either monitor. Also included in the facility is a four faucet scrub sink positioned directly outside the operating room so that medical students can learn scrub technique in a setting that closely mimics that of a real-life operating room.

We were honored to have Roberta’s daughter, Tammy Rice, and Linda Armen, each co-trustees of the Paul C. and Gladys W. Richards Foundation cut the ribbon for the Carlin Operating Room. Dr. Michele Pugnaire served as Master of Ceremonies for this event that included friends and family of Roberta Carlin and members of the iCELS team.
