We are pleased to announce the launch of one of our new Human Resources course offerings, Performance Appraisal: Merit Increase Calculation Tool Training.

This course is offered to a pilot group of UMass Chan managers by invitation only per receiving an email invite and it will provide training on the new merit increase calculation tool that is now available from Human Resources.

Classes will begin mid-March. Please see below for details on how to register:

Instructor: Doug Stewart, Assistant Vice Chancellor, HR Services 

Description: Performance appraisal involves much more than just assigning ratings and the same salary increase to all employees on your Team. The new HR merit increase calculation tool is designed to assist you in determining how to allocate your annual salary increase budget based upon merit and will help you:

  • Allocate your annual salary increase "pool" based upon merit guidelines
  • Use the tool to award merit increases easily within budget parameters
  • View the performance ratings and merit awards for your entire group of direct reports in one location
  • Easily adjust the performance ratings/merit increase using the tool as your "pool" decreases or assign increases using a "bell curve"

Prerequisite: None

Venue: Classroom (Pilot Group for the New Tool)

Schedule/Timeline: Classes begin mid-March; 60 minutes
