The Graduate School of Nursing, was established in 1970 under Massachusetts General Laws with the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) as the founding school.  The GSN is distinctive as the only publicly funded nursing school in the Commonwealth with a sole focus on graduate nursing education. It is also one of the few nursing schools in New England based at an academic health sciences center, sharing campus resources and facilities with its clinical partner, UMass Memorial Medical Center, part of UMass Memorial Health Care. The Graduate School of Nursing offers Master’s degrees, Post-Master’s Certificates and Doctoral degrees, preparing registered professional and advanced practice nurses within nurse practitioner, nurse educator tracks and for faculty, research and other nursing leadership positions
