Learning Communities
Learn about career paths with fellow students and postdocs and a career mentor
Each career pathway has small group, learning communities. What's a learning community you ask?
Learning community = YOU + other grad students & postdocs + career mentor
What to expect:
- Each learning community meets at least 4 times per calendar year
- 1 of the meetings is focused on discussing and receiving feedback about your IDP as it relates to the career pathway
- Meetings are led by student co-leaders who have been trained in meeting facilitation and leadership
- A career mentor who is currently in a position in the career pathway attends each meeting
After that...the sky's the limit!
- Learning community activities are driven by students and postdocs a few examples of learning community organized activities include:
- Tip/resource of the week tweet
- Blog post
- Career panel
- Quick quide to career pathway lingo
- Organize site visits, shadowing experiences, interships, etc. (with help from cBCD)
- Contribute resources & job postings to Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Linked In page
