Date Posted: Wednesday, August 14, 2019

Diane Lanni, one of our trauma coaches, and Kara Banson, a second year medical student, presented at CASA’s brown bag lunch series in Worcester. This event was attended by 17 CASA volunteers. Kara provided an overview of the services at the FaCES Clinic as well as introduced our new resources developed to help foster parents and caregivers navigate their child’s education. Diane engaged her audience by discussing attachment and how trauma can affect a child’s ability to appropriately attach. She also provided examples of common trauma reactions, and explained how trauma can complicate clinical assessments. Diane and Kara appreciated the enthusiasm and engagement of the CASA volunteers who asked questions and shared their insights.
