Clerkship in Family Medicine

The Vista family medicine clerkship is a longitudinal clerkship over a total of 5 weeks duration.  Each integrated unit students return to their assigned preceptor site to participate in the care of general family medicine patients.  4 weeks are traditional family medicine care and students are offered family medicine electives for the remaining 5th week that may include hospital medicine, maternal-child health, palliative care, sports medicine and others.  Students will participate in a weekly didactic lecture series covering core topics in family medicine in a case-based fashion leveraging the care of the “McQ” family for this purpose.  Students are evaluated through the standard Vista clerkship grading rubric which includes Student performance evaluation (40%), NBME (15%), OSCE (20%), Assignments (10%) and Longitudinal Focused Topic assessment (10%).
