Letter from the Program Director
On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program at University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, we extend a sincere welcome. We appreciate your interest in pursuing infectious diseases training with us! Our program provides robust clinical foundation complemented by cutting-edge research opportunities, providing fellows with the flexibility to tailor their training to their desired career path.
Our commitment is to deliver a comprehensive and rigorous educational experience, encompassing a broad spectrum of clinical and academic opportunities. Fellows will receive in-depth training in general infectious diseases across the UMass campus, ensuring exposure to a diverse patient population and a wide array of infectious syndromes.
Furthermore, our program offers specialized training pathways in critical areas of infectious diseases, including dedicated experiences in the management of infections in transplant and other immunocompromised hosts, as well as a robust curriculum in antimicrobial stewardship. Fellows will gain valuable expertise in hospital epidemiology and infection control, participate in the care of patients at our state-funded Getchell tuberculosis clinic, manage complex cases within our Infectious Disease clinic, and provide comprehensive care for individuals living with HIV. For those with specific professional development goals, we offer a medical education track to cultivate teaching skills, and also there are opportunities for engagement in global health initiatives.
We are confident that our multifaceted training program will provide a strong foundation for a successful and impactful career in infectious diseases. Our division looks forward to inviting passionate and dedicated fellows to join us.
If you have any questions about our program, please feel free to email Diana Bernstein or myself.
