Clinical Operation Division

This “Clin Ops” division oversees the medical care delivered to our patients at the multiple clinical sites covered by our department. Our Clin Ops team collaborates closely with health system and local hospital administrative and nursing leaders as we optimize care delivery for our patients and the work environments for our providers. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of five emergency departments, a large observation unit, Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), and a busy urgent care center/occupational health center, the Clin Ops division focuses on quality improvement, development of innovative treatment protocols, implementation of strategies to improve patient outcomes, health equity, and coordination of resources in pursuit of the goal of optimal departmental efficiency.

The Richard V. Aghababian EM Leadership and Administrative Fellowship

  • the first admin fellowship to receive approval from  Home | SAEM
  • its curriculum has been used as a template for programs nationally

The Emergency Medicine Program for Research in Operations, Medical Informatics, Implementation Science and Economics (EM-PROMIISE)

  • a collaborative program with experts from our Research Division that supports and fosters innovative research in clinical operations and related areas
  • this collaboration has resulted in dozens of publications and national/international presentations as well as grant funding for innovative clinical operations-related research

In addition to the Clin Ops team’s active involvement in the clinical and academic missions of the department, the majority of the Clin Ops leadership team have held and/or currently hold leadership positions in national and regional EM societies.
