Science Cafe - Epigenetics: Going Beyond Your Genome
The UMassMed Postdoctoral Association (UMPA) would like to invite you to a virtual science outreach event. From whole chromosome inactivation to regulation of specific genes, our UMassMed postdoctoral fellows will discuss their current research on epigenetics. Erica Hildebrand, postdoctoral fellow in the Dekker lab in the Program in Systems Biology, and Melvys Valledor, postdoctoral fellow in the Lawrence lab in the Department of Neurology, will present on this topic. Please feel free to invite your friends and family interested in learning about this topic in an informal setting.

Diversity and Injustice in Current Events and Science (DICES) Journal Club presents: Beyond Borders: International Scientists and Innovation 
The Diversity Interest Group (DIG) and UMMS' Postdoctoral Association (UMPA) will host our fourth session of the Diversity and Injustice in Current Events and Science (DICES) Journal Club entitled Beyond Borders: International Scientists and Innovation. Our goals are to (1) develop awareness and educate UMMS researchers on racism & other intersectional forms of discrimination, (2) develop and implement community-building initiatives within GSBS, Tri-School, and Worcester Communities, and (3) advocate for trainee concerns regarding diversity and inclusion in GSBS and Tri-School. This session will feature current and former members of the UMMS community who will graciously share their experiences as international scientists. In addition, we will warmly welcome Aaron Blumberg, Esq. as our guest contributor! Aaron Blumberg is a Partner at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy’s Miami office, where he advises a diverse clientele, from investors and entrepreneurs to colleges and universities to multinational companies, on U.S. immigration law
