Our first Campus Conversation about Race

On Thursday June 4, 2020 nearly 1,000 members of the UMMS community came together on Zoom for “A Campus Conversation About Race: Coming Together to Reflect and Progress.” Organized by the Diversity and Inclusion Office and the Minority Academic Advancement Committee, we were able to support one another while sharing moments of pain, sadness and frustration, as well as ideas for action and positive momentum. We were able to reaffirm our campus community’s commitment to the inclusion of all.

But we all know that there is much more to do and we are committed to taking meaningful actions. We shall be holding a second such campus conversation in the coming weeks.

A Campus Conversation about Race: Coming Together to Reflect and Progress

Thu, Jun 4, 2020 12:00 PM

In response to the nationwide protests, the Diversity and Inclusion Office along with the Minority Academic Advancement Committee (MAAC), a subcommittee of the Committee on Equal Opportunity and Diversity (CEOD), invite you to join us for a Virtual Campus Conversation. Mark Johnson, MD, PhD, will facilitate a panel discussion; this dialogue is an opportunity to process feelings and experiences, provide mutual support, and re-affirm UMMS commitment to the inclusion of all people in our community.
