Professional Women’s Committee 2018

Friday, August 03, 2018

The Professional Women’s Committee seeks to create an inclusive team-based environment which is conducive to cross-cultural collaboration, leadership, to promote salary equity, and create synergies to encourage and foster professional and personal growth and development.

The PWC has had a successful 2017-2018 year led by their co-chairs Justine Ashley and Patricia Levenson. They hosted a dialogue on “Thoughts about Leadership from a Women’s Perspective” by Mariann Felice. They also held their annual “Dress for Success” collection and sale, and raised over $3,300. They also introduced a raffle and continued to raise money by having a mini-boutique at the Multicultural Women’s Health Summit on June 16, 2018. They had a Book Read on Shawn Achor’s Happiness Advantage: The Seven Principles That Fuel Success and Performance. They engaged the clinical and school community through this, and exposed them to the group. They also determined ways to improve their committee’s success and happiness in the workplace. By doing so, they have a newfound respect and understanding for our colleagues and their outlook on their work and their contribution to the mission of UMASS Medical School. For the upcoming year, the Professional Women’s Committee seeks to learn from Reos Partners on how to better engage the women at UMASS. They wish to continue to support women at UMASS Medical School and function as a safe space to discuss ideas and concerns. For future events led by the PWC, they hope to focus on networking and professional development.
