Posted On: Tuesday, August 07, 2018 Posted By: Sibgha Javaid, Intern DIO Tags: Committee on Equal Opportunity and Diversity, Mature Workforce

The Mature Workforce Committee (MWC) focuses on faculty and staff over the age of 40. Mature workers are interested in the path to retirement as well as improving their skills for continuing in the workforce. The MWC provides information, training, and events in these areas.

The MWC works to bring a greater understanding of the value that intergenerational workgroups bring to UMMS. The MWC works to advance a positive and respectful multigenerational culture and seeks to address intergenerational issues through education, informational resources and intergenerational events and programs.

Events that the MWC has held this past year include a presentation by Susie Morneault called “Transitions to Retirement” which over 70 people attended.

For the coming year the MWC plans to collaborate with the Disabilities sub-committee to offer a “Healthy Living Fair” to give employees the opportunity to learn, observe and experience community Service to caregivers, seniors and those with disabilities.
