This group focuses on employees who have the ability to speak multiple languages, or who are interested in, the benefits and diversity of speaking multiple languages and its relationship to providing quality patient care. The Language of Healthcare ERG is chaired by Erjona Mehillaj.

The Language of Healthcare ERG, LatinX/Hispanic ERG, and the Diversity and Inclusion office hosted an event titled: Hallway Spanish; Learn How to Interact with Fellow Caregivers who Speak Spanish on July 12th, 2018. This event welcomed all caregivers who are interested in learning a few words in Spanish. The event included Spanish speakers from different areas, and Max Grecchi, Education Director for Interpreter Services helped participants understand the context of when interpreters are needed in a clinical setting. Through this event, the Language of Healthcare ERG sought to promote the inclusion of people who speak multiple languages. The goal of the event was to introduce team building, acknowledge, connect and engage with colleagues who speak multiple languages.

This is one of the Language of Healthcare ERG series on common second languages spoken at UMass. Through these events they wish to introduce the workforce to other languages, like Vietnamese, Swahili, Arabic, Portuguese, and many more.
