This year, the CWM CDC hosted many events for the UMass community. The group co-sponsored/hosted with the Professional Women’s Committee on the Diversity Dialogue Series: Thoughts about Leadership from a Women’s Perspective. The committee coordinate and hosted Massachusetts Disability Mentoring Day Mentees. The event was part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. This event was able to increase participation and provide access to potential candidates to potential qualified candidates in several business areas. The committee co-sponsored/hosted the #statewithoutstigma dialogue series. The event was to address the impact of opioid addiction and the stigma that families face, here in Massachusetts. The CWM CDC hosted Global-Get-Together-International Potluck which brought more than 50 staff members together to focus on community, education, and recruitment efforts. The group also merged DIO principles and CWM CDC information into CWM KEY (Knowledge, Exploration, You) an on-boarding program for new hires. Next year, co-chairs Theresa McGauley-Keaney and Jorge Sanchez along with the rest of the committee hope to continue to promote a safe work environment for CWM staff and support efforts to build a diverse and inclusive health and public service workforce. Commonwealth Medicine Cultural Diversity in 2017
