Program Overview:
We are pleased to announce that the 5th Annual UMass Memorial Healthcare Multiple Sclerosis Center MS Update Program: “New Approved Therapies and Biomarkers Updates in Multiple Sclerosis” will be held on November 15, 2019 at Beechwood Hotel, Worcester, MA.

The content of the meeting includes state-of-the-art information on the latest research on use of serum and CSF neurofilaments, role of MRI in MS disease surveillance, adaptive and innate immunity new in MS, role of gut microbiota in MS, biomarkers discovery, new treatments approved, updates on ongoing and new clinical studies and much more. 

The UMass Memorial Healthcare MS Center is proud to partner with national and international thought-leaders, MS professionals who work in translational research, clinical research, community service, and education. Our faculty will challenge, refresh and recharge your clinical knowledge base. Each lecture will be a thoroughly useful state-of-the-art summary.

Our meeting is unique in bringing together neurologists, basic and translational scientists and radiologists, committed to improving the lives of people with MS.

GOALS: The goal of the 5th Annual Meeting of the UMASS MS Center is to provide MS healthcare professionals with the most up-to-date information-impacting patient care in the areas of:

TARGET AUDIENCE: Healthcare professionals-physicians (neurologists, primary care, internists), nurses, residents, fellows, medical students and researchers. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key concepts of the immunologic disease processes associated with multiple sclerosis.
  • Recognize that the pathophysiology of multiple sclerosis is affected by ethno-cultural origin, and environmental factors and tailor diagnosis and management appropriately.
  • Learn about cutting-edge biomarkers research.
  • Analyze the complex mechanisms underlying the pathophysiology of multiple sclerosis in order to more appropriately initiate new therapeutic interventions.
  • Access timely topics, international thought-leaders and interactive discussions.

Comfort:  Business casual is very appropriate for this conference.  Although attempts will be made to insure the comfort of our attendees, we suggest that you bring a sweater/jacket if you tend to be chilly. 

Continuing Education Credit –

Accreditation Statement: The University of Massachusetts Medical School is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  

Designation Statements:  Physicians: The UMMS designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  

Nurses: This program meets the requirements for 6.6 contact hours for nurses as specified by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in nursing (244-CMR 5.04).  Each nurse should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Other Health Professionals: Non-physician health professionals and other participants will be issued a certificate of participation stating that the activity was certified for 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ .

Cancellation Policy:
If you cancel your registration before October 31, 2019 your fee is refundable less a processing charge of $75.  After that date, no refunds will be given for any reason, including weather and other emergencies.  Substitutions are always acceptable. 

The Office of Continuing Medical Education and the Department of Neurology reserves the right to cancel a program at any time caused by circumstances not under its control.  Persons registered in a cancelled program will be notified by email, using the email address provided when registering for the program.  Registration fees will be refunded if the program is cancelled.  There may be changes it the program content caused by circumstances beyond the control of the Office of Continuing Medical Education.

Refunds, less an administrative fee of $75 will be issued for cancellations received two weeks prior to the start of the course. No refund will be issued should cancellation occur less than two weeks prior.  “No shows” are subject to the full course fee and no refunds will be issued.
