Positions Available in Alonso Lab

I strongly believe in the importance of maintaining biomedically oriented scientists, including physician scientists, as part of the research workforce. As first-hand witnesses of the successes and failures of current medical practice, MD-trained scientists with an active clinical practice add important perspective towards identifying and solving basic questions relevant to clinical problems. 

Postdoctoral Positions

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics or related area, and be clear written and oral communicators, well organized, enthusiastic, and dedicated to moving science forward in a collegial fashion. Graduate students

I take my graduate student mentorship role seriously.  I strive to provide students with the tools needed to succeed in their career path, including basic science understanding, project design, experimental design and interpretation, oral and written data communication, interpersonal contacts at a local, national and international level, and the intangible skills needed to succeed in academia. 

Rotation projects are available in pancreatic islet biology, with a focus on how nutrients regulate growth and regeneration of insulin-producing beta cells and glucagon-producing alpha cells.  Email:
